Italian diet

Italian diet is based on the Mediterranean way of food - not too fat, not enough carbohydrates, lots of fish, chicken and turkey meat, and little red meat.



Italians enjoy a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, beans, fish, olive oil, tomatoes, whole grains, dairy products, red wine, and look gorgeous. What is the secret?

In the southern parts of Italy consumed fresh fish, herbs, artichoke, dill and lemon contributing food to be tasty and healthy. Pasta was served al dente, with a little olive oil or tomato sauce and vegetables, and always in small portions.

Fried foods and cream sauces for pasta are avoided. Instead, eat a salad of tomato sauce simple vegetable pasta, and use olive oil. Use lemon, garlic, vinegar, and spices such as oregano, basil, rosemary for getting intense taste and low calorie food salad.

Italians start their day with a relatively small breakfast that includes coffee with milk, along with cereals or crackers. Lunch varies from family to family in the country, but typically consists of a sandwich and salad, or a small bowl of pasta with a piece of fish or chicken with vegetables. Regarding the afternoon snack, they usually consume yogurt or fruit instead of cake, cookies, or candy. Usually opting for coffee or cappuccino made with milk (without whipped cream).

Dinner is larger meal, but not too late (to allow for proper digestion of food). It is usually pasta with tomato sauce or vegetables; small piece of fish or meat, vegetables and fruits as dessert. Mineral water is the preferred drink with a glass of red wine.
